VEHICLE CLEANING OPERATOR
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Vehicle Cleaning Operator is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the police, sheriff's and other authorized vehicles. Work is performed under the direction of the fleet maintenance manager. This is a Monday through Friday position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates mechanical cleaning machinery and equipment; cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles; waxes and performs other duties related to the cleanliness or appearance of the vehicles; and operates vehicles incidental to duties.
OTHER REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Fleet Maintenance garage in minor vehicle maintenance and installation of equipment, transports vehicles, performs errands, maintains a clean and safe work area, and performs any other duties required.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Shall include, but are not limited to, ability to read, write, and speak English; hear and understand verbal communications; vision capable of reading printed instructions and operating equipment; ability to bend, reach, enter and exit vehicles repetitively; mechanical aptitude sufficient to be able to operate, maintain, and provide minor repairs to cleaning equipment. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license.
Applicant must successfully pass an oral interview, physical examination, drug screening test, and a record and background investigation. Residency within a defined perimeter must be established 90 days after successful completion of the probationary period. The residency policy and map may be viewed upon request.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., a history of responsible work experience, and a minimum of two years driving experience.
SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS: Effective January 1, 2008, the pay range for this position starts at $10.32 per hour to a maximum of $11.89 after 48 months. Health insurance premiums, group life insurance, and the employee's share of retirement contributions are paid for in full by Joint Services. Sick leave, vacations, and Social Security benefits are provided.
